Javan Mngrezzo (he/him) relocated to Minnesota in 2021 by way of Portland, OR. He graduated from Western Oregon University in three years, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Sociology. At present, he dances with ARENA Dances, Rhythmically Speaking, Black Label Movement, and Collide Theatrical. He has previously been a company dancer with Threads Dance Project and BodyVox. He has also had the privilege of performing as a guest artist for numerous companies such as Analog Dance Works, HatchDance, Ballet Co.Laboratory, Heidi Duckler Dance, Cynthia Gutierrez’s Company Movimiento, and Dar Vejon Jones Dance Ensemble. Javan is a certified instructor of The Ellové Technique®, has taught at dozens of Oregon studios as well as several local studios. He is excited to be returning for his third project with ARENA Dances!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This piece is a work-in-progress and an excerpt (a part 1/2) of a larger work. Before giving a deeper definition, when the work in its entirety is nearer to completion, the words I will leave for now are these:
“And more perturbing is this…the power given to things we yet could control.”

“I’d be pop-rocks. Why? Well when you meet me I’m kind of quiet, reserved, and give pure-introvert energy. But when animated or activated then WOA THERE’S A LOT GOING ON HERE, MUCH TO DISSECT, IS THIS AN EXTROVERTED-INTROVERT?! CHAOS BRAIN – ARTIST AURA – DUMPSTER FIRE SCHEDULE!! I CAN’T TELL IF I LIKE THIS OR NOT!?..kinda like pop rocks.”
