Vy Nguyen is a Vietnamese-american dance artist based in Minneapolis, MN. They recently graduated in May 2024 from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. There they trained extensively in modern and contemporary dance forms. During their time at U, Vy was involved in performances and processes with BrotherHood dance, BRKFST dance, Elayna Waxse, Taja Will, Jordan Demetrius Lloyd, Maria Bauman, and Eva Mohn. Upon graduating, they debuted their own choreographic work and screen dance film at ArtShelf in collaboration with visual artist Olivia Smith and local dancers. Most recently, Vy has performed in works by Alexandra Eady at the Southern Theatre, Brandon Alley of Dance Novella and Kellie St. Pierre at the Salt Dance Link festival, and is a frequent collaborator with Corpus Dance Works in MPLS. Vy is most interested in utilizing dance and the corporeal body as a form of language to strengthen their connection to others and deepen their understanding of the landscapes that surround them.
